Aisling & James

Nestled in the heart of the Scottish Highlands, Ailsing and James chose Monachyle Mhor for their intimate wedding celebration. A boutique hotel with sweeping views of Loch Voil and the surrounding mountains, their day was a love letter to Scotland’s raw, untamed beauty. An emotional ceremony overlooking the loch followed by adventurous portraits along the loch’s shimmering shores.

Moncachyle Mhor is a sublimely special place for foodies and fun lovers with its quirky buildings ranging from cosy farmhouse rooms to wild and wacky wagons.

Aisling’s hair was by Stefan from Hampton’s wore a David Fielden dress from Anne Priscilla in Glasgow, with florals by Narcissus in Edinburgh (now Broughton Street Flowers), long-time collaborators of Dom’s. Music from Tir Chonaill brought the evening together, less wedding band and more pub session, as the celebration gathered pace.

Dom worked alongside Sylwia and Simon of Wildcall Films, documenting the day as it moved naturally between ceremony, portraits and evening celebrations.

“We wanted our photos to feel as wild and free as our relationship – Dominic completely understood that vision. The way he captured the light on the loch takes our breath away every time.”

The Monachyle Mhor Experience

The Setting

Set above the loch in the Perthshire Highlands, Monachyle Mhor offers a mix of buildings and outdoor spaces that encourage movement throughout the day. From ceremony to reception, the setting allowed guests to drift between areas rather than gather in one fixed place.

Light Through the Day

Light shifted gradually from daylight across the loch to softer interiors and evening warmth. Dom worked with those changes as they occurred, photographing each part of the day in a way that reflected its atmosphere rather than treating moments in isolation.

A Quiet Presence

As the celebration moved between spaces, Dom remained unobtrusive, following the pace of the day rather than directing it. Attention stayed on interactions between people as the gathering built from relaxed moments into the evening.

Set within the Perthshire countryside, Monachyle Mhor offers a setting that allows the day to unfold across a range of spaces. If you’re considering a wedding here or nearby, feel free to get in touch for further information.
