Megan & Luke

Prestonfield House was the destination for one of our more eclecticley themed weddings. When Megan and Luke flew in from Los Angeles for their transatlantic wedding weekend, they envisioned a celebration that blended Edinburgh’s contemporary edge with its historic grandeur.

Their vision came to life across two iconic locations; the sleek, light-filled galleries of the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art for their welcome drinks the evening before, followed by a decadent ceremony and reception at the baroque opulence of Prestonfield House.

The contrast couldn’t have been more perfect. Modern love stories against centuries old backdrops.

“Dominic made us feel like we were the only people in every room – even when tourists were peeking at our first dance!”

The Prestonfield House Experience

A Familiar Experience

Prestonfield is a venue Dom has photographed many times over the years. Its layered interiors, theatrical detail and strong sense of occasion give weddings here a clear structure, while still allowing the day to feel personal.

That familiarity allows photography to settle quickly into the rhythm of the house, moving comfortably between rooms and moments as the celebration unfolds.

Across The Weekend

The weekend moved between two very different locations — the clean, contemporary lines of the gallery and the layered, historic interiors of Prestonfield House. Each space was photographed on its own terms, responding to scale, light, and atmosphere as they shifted.

The contrast between modern and historic settings was central to how the story of the wedding was documented.

Quiet, Observational Coverage

From the first evening through to the wedding day itself, Dom worked discreetly throughout. Familiarity with Prestonfield meant moments could be anticipated without directing them, keeping coverage calm and unobtrusive as the day unfolded.

The approach remained the same across both days, despite the change in setting.

Weddings that unfold across more than one day often benefit from a clear sense of continuity. When celebrations are centred around a venue like Prestonfield House, familiarity with the setting helps the weekend come together naturally.

If you’re planning a wedding here, or a celebration that spans more than one location, you’re welcome to get in touch to discuss details and availability.
